Tag Heuer - Carrera

In the fifties of the last century, the famous car race Carrera Panamericana came into being and the racer Juan Manuel Fangio (World Formula 1 Champion 1951, 1954, 1955, 1956, and 1957) won it in 1953. In 1954, the Tag Heuer Company released the Carrera chronograph, whose ambassador became J.M.Fangio.

The Carrera watches exist only in the automatic variant; either a chronometer or a chronograph - both with water-resistance to 50 meters. The watches have a second time zone display and luminescent hands and indexes. Some of the types offered have a perforated wristband. This kind of decoration was very popular among the drivers in the beginning of the last century. The straps on the watches or the driving gloves had been often perforated; this trend still leaves its mark on the leather covering of the steering wheels.
